Wow, what a night!
There's a real interesting dynamic to travel to a foreign country as a foreign band and expecting foreign people to show up at the events. Will people even come? Do they care? Why would they even consider it?
Tonight was kinda how we felt once we setup and were ready for the evening... at 5:50pm there were only the handful of leaders of the Monkton School CU (Christian Union) praying with us for tonight. Prayers that went up were: "God, we want more of you" "God, we desire your Spirit to come down." "God, we are here for your presence." Deep, honest, heartfelt prayers from teenagers who are authentic and pure in their expression.
6:00 hit us and the room was half full, and by 6:05 we were blown away to be in the beautiful Chapel filled with maybe 200 people...
If there's one word to describe out first slot (6-7pm as school is strict on times) it is the word: Ease. It felt so effortless to minister... God just rocked up and used us in a way that we didn't feel that we are the ones doing any work at all... We sang the songs and God shared with us this picture that he wanted to let the young guys know he has these amazing gifts in store for them... And lead us to a scripture in 2 Tim 1 that says we ought to stir up our gifts and not be scared to use it to testify of God's love and salvation. The room fell silent at the end of the worship and there was a real sense that God is somehow busy with everyone in a real special unique way.
We shared a little bit of our WH message and the Hope is Here video and song after which Tim and Maz talked about how God has called them from this nation to ours to make a difference.. we ended with Our God and the building couldn't contain the sound of shouting and joy as we sang the last song.
Afterwards so many of the guys came to get flyers about the Village of Hope and said they want to come spend time there... Some came forward for prayer like the one girl who Helena prayed for. She was just crying and said she don't know why. God was just lavishing her with His presence and Helena prayed for her to find more of God and for His plans to come to pass for her...
We spend some more time mingling with them and ended up in the Dining hall at school to eat dinner with them (a first experience for most of us)... Wow, these kids eat a lot, and the food is amazing... Was so great to just hang with them during dinner...
We went back to the Chapel for session 2 (Called C U Later, from 9 - 10pm). When we started we just stated from the offset that we just want to "hang" with God and let him move as He wants. Again, there was such a sweet presence and peace in the room. We spend about 30min worshipping after which Charl shared on "What is your purpose''. He did such a great job and we could see the faces of the crowd and how they were inspired by his talk...
We used the song Awakening as a response and ended the evening with them praying for each other, to be awakened to God's purposes for their lives and for His gifts to be stirred up... After the prayer time they didn't want to leave (and they were suppose to leave by 10) and we all just sat in the quiet of the room in God's presence... it was a wow moment and we didn't want to get up and go...
We are so blown away by how God has used us tonight and to see the faces of the ones we prayed for lighten up to know that God has more in store for them...
We are tired tonight and look forward to a great nights rest... off to Aylesbury tomorrow and we will keep you posted!
Lekker Slaap
